Tokenization - The Considerations
Tokenization is a necessary evolution in payments to eliminate the transmission of sensitive payment account number (PAN) data in primarily remote payment transaction environments. This session will help attendees gain a foundation of the various types of tokens in the market, applicable use cases, considerations, and watch-outs to help merchants as they explore the use of this technology within their digital payment platforms.
Facilitators:  Manish Nathwani (SVP, Product Development, Shazam) & Larry Brennan (SVP, Merchant Data Security & Cybersecurity Director, BAMS)

Digital Payment Authentication - Tools & Best Practices
Online and mobile commerce sales continue to grow at a rapid pace in the United States. According to a report from the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. online retail sales nearly quadrupled in the decade from 2005-2015, and today account for roughly $340 Billion, or 10.6%, of total retail sales.  As this trend continues, retailers are subject to an increasing amount of risk since merchants absorb most fraud losses for such payments. How do merchants manage this risk? What authentication tools do they use? Which risk mitigation capabilities are most effective? Learn about these and other best practices during this session.
Facilitators:  Brad Wiskirchen (CEO, Kount) & David Johnston (Sr. Director, Loss Prevention and Corporate Security, Dunkin' Brands)

EMV - Top 5 Fraud & Chargebacks Challenges
As of year-end 2016, the percentage of EMV transactions reached 19% in the U.S. while globally EMV transactions reached 52%. This suggests the U.S. has quite a long road ahead. In the interim, what are the fraud levels and chargeback challenges retailers have faced during this migration? What best practices have merchants deployed to respond to these challenges? This session will explore these trends, lessons learned, and a more comprehensive understanding of the chargeback monitoring programs implemented by the global networks.
Facilitators:  Itai Sela (CEO, B2) & Joe Vasterling (Director, Payment Acceptance, Best Buy)

Facilitators: Matt Detert (Product Strategy Director, Bank of America Merchant Services) & Marc Black (Senior Mgr. Credit Payment Relationships, Kohl's)

The Internet of Things - What is it? Why does it matter to you?
The "Internet of Things" (IoT) is projected to reach 26 billion connected devices by 2020. This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, and wearable devices.  It's a concept that will impact how we live and how retailers interact with consumers. What exactly is the "Internet of Things" and what impact is it going to have on you? This session will explore the trends, applicable use cases, and security considerations of the IoT.

Card fraud rates vary significantly across the globe but the fundamental perception is that the US – by far the world’s largest card market – suffers the worst rate of fraud amongst the world’s major economies.
In this session, we will assess this perception by sharing the results of a report conducted for the MAG, where we have scrutinized publicly available data, engaged industry experts, conducted primary research and analyzed data from CMSPI’s global client list. We will then discuss the reasons for our findings, including differences in payments infrastructure, authentication methods, treatment of customer data and scheme rules.

Today's Fraud Landscape: Using Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to Prevent Fraud
As technology makes it faster and easier to shop, sell, and spend, new threats and vulnerabilities continue to put both consumers and businesses at risk. Businesses face the challenge of preventing fraud across all channels, while balancing the demand of consumers for personalized, connected experiences.

Today, it is seven times more difficult to prevent fraud through remote channels like mobile and online than it is in person. However, there are technologies to help detect and prevent fraud while lowering the rate of false chargebacks and declines. This session will explore the latest fraud tactics used by criminals and how businesses can take advantage of technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and predictive analytics to protect data and stop fraud before it occurs.

Using Payments Data to Increase Customer Conversions and Merchant Profitability

While U.S. eCommerce continues to grow a notable 16 percent per year, merchants face many inefficiencies that can undercut their profitability. The rates of cart abandonment, fraud, and false declines of legitimate transactions by issuing banks remain stubbornly high. These problems – which all relate to conversions – are each exceedingly complex, but they can be seen as a continuum and managed through focused efforts.

The key to addressing problems with conversions starts with data. Merchants need reliable data sources in order to be informed of inefficiencies, to infer the reasons for their problems, and to influence positive changes.

At this session, attendees will learn how they can leverage payments intelligence to:

  • Reduce cart abandonment by offering the payment methods their customers prefer;
  • Accurately identify fraud at the time of authorization;
    Increase authorization approval rates;
  • Obtain visibility to the characteristics and conversion success rates of every card they accept.

How to mitigate fraud and drive the optimal customer experience
E commerce merchants are always looking for opportunities to improve the customer shopping and payment experience while reducing fraud losses.  Merchants can improve identification of suspicious or good customers through the following actions:

  1. collecting additional data earlier in the customer shopping experience
  2. understanding typical and atypical transaction types at the individual merchant and
  3. augmenting merchant specific data with the experience and insights from a community of similar merchants, who may have prior knowledge of the customer and/or emerging fraud trends.

Merchants can increase sales by partnering with an experienced fraud provider who has the computing power and modeling capabilities to collect, analyze and provide recommendations on the millions of data points.

In this session merchants will learn about new techniques and tools to deliver a better customer experience while protecting their bottom line.

PCI Validated Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) – Vendor Selection, Implementation and Deployment: Lessons Learned
In 2014, North America saw its first PCI-validated P2PE solution come on the market. Since then, the list of validated providers has risen to 45 (as of November 2017), with that number expected to increase in 2018.

A key driver in the growth of PCI P2PE solutions is market need and demand. PCI P2PE enables merchants and enterprises to get reduced PCI assessment scope, saving time and money on annual audits, layered defenses to protect the POS perimeter, and IT staff.

In this session, Bluefin’s Chief Strategy Officer, Ruston Miles, will provide an update on the current validated providers in the market and the types of P2PE solutions offered, including acquirer-based, integrated software, and stand-alone solutions. The session will also overview:

  • How merchants and enterprises are examining their security needs/infrastructure to determine if PCI P2PE is relevant to their organization
  • The criteria being used to evaluate available PCI P2PE providers
  • The process of implementing a PCI P2PE solution and the internal groups involved
  • The final step of deployment, operation and support of PCI P2PE – including devices, custodians and the annual PCI SAQ P2PE assessment

This session will also include a case study discussed by Randy Gibbons, Payment Strategies, Treasury, Southwest Airlines, on the airline’s adoption, implementation and deployment of Bluefin’s P2PE solution and Lessons Learned along the way.

Speakers

Most notably, attendees will learn how PAR can enable them to see their customers as individuals, rather than disparate methods of payment to power personalization and superior customer experiences.
