EMV and PINless Debit In recent months, substantial progress has been made in moving forward with EMV for debit in the U.S.  Networks and Global brands are agreeing to license agreements for the U.S. Common Debit AIDs and technologists are working through the final details for processing transactions regardless of CVM type. 

In addition, in related developments, debit networks are expanding their product offerings regarding PINless debit, especially for e-Commerce purposes.  In this session, representatives from two debit networks and the Debit Network Alliance will bring everyone up to date on the latest developments for both debit EMV deployment and PINless debit transactions.

Attendees will benefit from this webinar by being able to better plan for EMV deployment in the U.S. and to learn more about PINless debit offerings to consider to help meet consumer needs.

Paul Tomasofsky – Executive Director, Debit Network Alliance

Paul Tomasofsky, President, Secure Remote Payment Council, is a well-known payments executive with over 30 years’ experience in retail financial services. In addition to his duties at the SRPc, Mr. Tomasofsky is also the president of Two Sparrows Consulting.   Mr. Tomasofsky specializes in operations analysis, strategic planning, training, competitive analysis, and product development. During the past ten years he has consulted extensively on prepaid cards, debit cards, merchant acquiring, bill payment and presentment, reward programs, payments risk management, product positioning, outsourced procurement and operational topics. In December, 2009, Mr. Tomasofsky became the founding President of the Secure Remote Payment Council. In 2008, Mr. Tomasofsky served as interim Executive Director of the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association. He is a frequent speaker at industry gatherings and is a contributing author to “Electronic Payment System Compliance,” published by A.S. Pratt and Sons.

Before his current position, Mr. Tomasofsky was Vice President of Strategic Business Development for NYCE Corporation, Montvale, NJ. There, he was responsible for engaging other payment companies in business formations including alliances, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions. Earlier, he was Vice President of Advanced Products for NYCE, responsible for developing emerging products including SafeDebit, an Internet PINned debit payment product.

In the mid ’90s, Mr. Tomasofsky was Director of Implementations for Visa Interactive, where he was a pioneer in remote banking and electronic bill pay delivery. At the beginning of his career, he managed a national merchant credit card acquiring portfolio and introduced one the earliest offline debit card programs, both for First National Bank of Maryland.

Manish Nathwani – Vice President of Network Products & Architecture, Shazam
Manish is a key contributor to the vision of SHAZAM's electronic payments business. He and his teams innovate and develop products to enhance SHAZAM's core strengths and introduce new products into the marketplace to help our member financial institutions succeed.

In his 11 years at SHAZAM, Manish has worked as a Senior Engineer/Consultant, Information Technology Technical Lead, Enterprise / Chief Architect and Director of Network Products/Architecture. He was recently promoted to his current post as VP of Network Products & Architecture. Manish is also an HP Mission Critical Consultant, a member of the Accredited Standards Committee (X9) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Manish has more than 25 years of experience in the electronic payments industry, primarily building enterprise-strength, high-performance, online payment/authorization systems. He has experience in point-of-sale (POS), ATM, acquirer, and issuer processing and worked for companies such as CAP U.K., Tandem Computers, ACI Worldwide, and HP. He also worked with Deutsche Bank and a number of other European financial institutions and processors to deliver banking / electronic funds transfer products and solutions.

Manish graduated from the University of Manchester, England, with a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master’s degree in computing for commerce/industry. 
Jeff Bond, Product and Business Development, STAR® Network
Jeff Bond is Vice President, STAR Network Product and Business Development, for First Data’s STAR Network.  In this role, he leads the team that manages STAR’s relationship with merchants and merchant processors for acceptance, routing, product implementation, and manages the commercialization efforts for STAR Products including STAR RapidFlash, STAR Secure E-Tailer, and EMV.  In this role, Jeff and his group also support the relationships with STAR Network member financial institutions working with First Data’s debit processing sales and Business Consulting team as well as various other third-party issuing processors.       

Jeff joined First Data when the company acquired Concord EFS in February of 2004.  He has held positions in National Account Management, Regional Manager for sales and account management, and related positions in the payments industry since 1990.  Jeff represents STAR on the Debit Network Alliance, LLC Board.
