Fraud & Chargeback Trends and Best Practices to Mitigate Risk

A recurring topic of great interest to our membership continues to be fraud & chargebacks.  Join this webinar to hear from a group of subject matter experts on trends in chargebacks and fraud including emerging fraud attempts along with best practices to mitigate risk of these trends as they emerge in the marketplace.  The presenters will speak to trends in both the face to face and e/m-commerce environment in light of the U.S. EMV migration and major breaches to personally identifiable consumer and cardholder data.  The best practices shared will explore the use of automated vs. interactive tools, static vs. dynamic data, fraud rules management, metrics & measurement, and sourcing of human capital for fraud and chargeback management.

Goldman_Ira webOver the past five years Ira has been responsible for a portfolio of Auriemma Industry Roundtables, mostly related to customer-facing functions, such as fraud, customer service, disputes/chargebacks, credit bureau and compliance, in card, consumer banking, and auto finance. As a 35-year payment industry veteran, he has held senior positions in customer service, operations, finance, and marketing at JPMorgan Chase. He is a strategic thought leader in operational excellence and business process re-engineering. Ira managed annual budgets of nearly $200 million and delivered hundreds of millions of dollars in value through cost cutting and revenue growth. He directed Visa and MasterCard on all operational matters to meet Chase’s strategic objectives. Member of Payment Network Committees with policy development and advocacy responsibilities.  During the period he was Department Head – Customer Service - Disputes, Ira managed a staff of 650 employees in multiple sites, where he significantly increased performance stemming predominately from process improvement. He received an MBA in Finance from Fordham University.

Bush_Don_webIn his role as VP of Marketing Don works with online businesses, industry analysts, consultants, law enforcement and trade associations to determine best practices, trends in the market place and the latest threats to ecommerce businesses. Don has been a regular speaker on fraud topics at several industry events in the U.S., Europe, and Asia including:  Merchant Risk Council,,, MasterCard Academy of Risk, eTail and Fraud 360 World Tour.

Presenter: Lee Jurgens (CEO, Autoback LLC)
Jurgens_Lee_webLee Jurgens is the EVP Marketing and Sales for AutoBack. Prior to his position at Autoback, Lee was the CEO of Prociant, Director of Sales and Cash Audit for Ralph Lauren, controller for Good Machine and Sales and Cash Audit Manager for Toys R US. He received his Accounting and Computer science degrees from the University van Amsterdam (UVA). Lee served on the Board of Directors for the Merchant Advisory Group from 2008-2015 and as Chairman from 2009-2015. 

Presenter: Todd Thayer (Executive Director, Product Management Director, J.P. Morgan)

Thayer_Todd webTodd joined JPMC’s leadership team in 2016 to help the bank define next generation transaction security & data management.  Todd’s current mission is simple; protect customer data and combat transaction fraud.

Todd trained as a SW Systems Engineer for Texas Instruments while designing signal processing algorithms for air-to-air missile systems in the 90’s.  Todd later joined Nokia in 1998 and spent over 10 years “Connecting People” as Director of Product Management and GTM.  Todd led Digital Product Management for InComm & in 18 months, built a new team that launched ten apps & digital products.  Prior to joining Chase, Todd was Head of Product Management for Syniverse driving customer engagement platforms for OTT companies around the world. Todd holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Alabama and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
